The Green Scream was classed as Adventure Island's signature ride before Rage came along, and was the first of the park's current coasters to be constructed. The train, themed as park mascot Snappy, is 20 cars long, and seats up to 40 passengers per ride. The train rolls out of the station, round the flat curve onto the lift hill. When the back finally reaches the top speed starts to build as the train winds around curves and helixes. Riders are treated to two circuits.
On Sunday 8th August 2010 the Green Scream broke the world record for 'most naked riders on a roller coaster' setting it at 40, taking the title from Nemesis at Alton Towers which held the previous record of 32. The participants (102 of them!) raised £22,000 for Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation.
